Research and Activity

I met with Mary Allen of the Washburn School of Nursing, in her office on Wednesday Feb. 11.  The meeting was interesting, but I don't feel like I got enough information.

I emailed Patricia Joyce on the advice of a friend, and so later today I'm going to call her and set up an appointment for this week.

  1. I spent half this week trying to contact Patricia Joyce, who is a very busy lady. Finally when she did call me back, I explained the situation to her, and she said she didn't think that she was the one who could help me. She did give me two other names, Caren Dick and another name I have written down at home. I've called and left messages with both of them, but neither has called me back.

  2. Laura Sidlinger is the other lady I have contacted. I will email them today to follow up on the phone messages I left on Thursday.

I interviewed Kirstin Harding for my brief.

  3. On Wednesday the 25th, I sat down with Dr. Hornberger and Laura Sidlinger. The interview was ok, but I assumed since Dr. Hornberer was there, she was available to talk about the rest of the school of nursing. However, she was just there to supervise the interview about the mobile health clinic. Hopefully I will be able to get together with her again.

  4. On March 10, I sat for an hour with Dr. Nora Clark and talked about the Core Family Project. We had a wonderful interview, in which she explained everything about the project and she also gave me some other great ideas for the beat. She also promised to keep me informed about other events going on.

  6. Yeah a good interview and the presentation seems to have turned the tide for you. You need to post some facts here about the SON. What do you already know. What background do you have?

  7. I spoke with Sue Modig who is the receptionist for the SON and she gave me some information about the poster presentation coming up on May 6th.

This week I've contacted numerous professors and students, but only two have called me back. I plan to meet with Laura Sidlinger on Tuesday to talk to her about her upcoming trip to China where she will take nursing students. I also am going to get back to Shirley Dinkel who oversees the exchange program with a school in Finland.

  8. This week I spoke with Breanna Chamoss about the SNOW organization. I also interviewed Laura Sidlinger about the upcoming trip to China that she and nursing students will leave for in May. I'm awaiting a student going on that trip to contact me for an interview.

  9. This week I spoke with Laura Sidlinger about the upcoming trip to China, and also with Cynthia Hornberger, the dean, who is stepping down. I've also tried to get in contact with several students regarding the China trip but they are very busy, so working with their schedules is hard.
